David Millstone and Carlo Rovelli Talk Quantum Physics

Standard Industries co-CEO David Millstone sat down with theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli—known for his work on loop quantum gravity, the nature of space and time, and the relational interpretation of quantum theory—for a wide-ranging discussion on how we perceive time, how humanity builds knowledge across disciplines, and how doubt and a willingness to challenge our ideas lead to better outcomes.

Carlo Rovelli is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France and Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences, honorary professor at Beijing Normal University, and Honoris Causa Laureate of the Universidad de San Martin in Buenos Aires. His books, including Seven Brief Lessons on Physics, The Order of Time, Helgoland, and White Holes, are international bestsellers that have been translated into more than 50 languages. In 2019, he promoted the Global Peace Dividend Initiative, signed by 50+ Nobel laureates, which called for a worldwide redirection of defense spending towards climate and health initiatives. He has been included by Foreign Policy magazine in the list of the 100 most influential global thinkers.
